15 Months Going On 15 Years!

Oh. My. Sweet. Lord!!! I never thought trying to get someone so small to do as they're told could be so bloody difficult!

For the last few weeks or so now, H.R.H. Princess Sprog has been reeeeaaaallllly testing the water, oh hasn't she just!!! "No!" has become her favourite word (even if she means "yes"!), and no matter how I tell her/ask her/command her to come here/don't throw your food/stand still!!! She won't bloody do as she's told!!! All the while, she carries on with her merry way (or tries to...) pretending not to hear me/"wiping" her plate clean/walking off/fidgeting, that is.... before I tell her no! Of which she then proceeds to scream, cry and rage at me; although she still hasn't yet thrown a full on paddy...... Yet....

Remembering she's only 15 months old (16 months in 4 days), I still can't believe she seems to be starting her Terrible Twos already!

First of all, I have tried to deal with her by making her stay in her cot for a few minutes, but she just doesn't seem to care, seeing as she begins bouncing and playing for a little while! The complacent mare! Lol but after thinking to myself for a few days now, wondering what other punishment I could offer, (without shouting, or smacking her hand or bum!) and seeing as I don't have a Naughty Step that I could sit her on, (nay any steps at all), nor do I want to sit her in a Naughty Chair (no doubt she'd refuse to "sit down" after a while), I came up with the idea of the Naughty Spot on the floor, in the lounge, just inside the doorway! We tried it twice this evening during dinner time (her favourite time to play up and throw food, whether she's had a nap during the day, or not...); I stood her there, and wouldn't let her move for 2 minutes.... She hated it! Success! Lol the second time, she kept trying to give me kisses and lay on me to give me hugs, but I wouldn't let her.... Was that too harsh....? :S

I talked to her afterwards, and tried explain things in a way I hope she understands both times, and gave her hugs and kisses the second time when she'd calmed down, so I think I'm doing it right (from things I've read on other websites and stuff).

This week has had added stress as we've both been ill, Sprog has had a cold and I think teething too (meaning very disturbed nights), and I think I had conjunctivitis (sore, itchy, watery eye, but no gluey lashes... sorry for the TMI.... Hehe). So I've fallen behind with my housework, or at least I feel like I have, I've shamefully got in to the habit of leaving the post dinner washing up until the next morning :( plus the delivery of some more new furniture, so slowly trying to unpack some more stuff, only to find it can only really go in my room..... Just what I thought I was escaping..... Although some of it can probably actually eventually go in the bathroom.... Need a cupboard thing in there first hehe

So anyways, back to today, I have settled down to watch True Blood, with a glass of Jack Daniels in one hand, and a Tesco Banoffee Dessert in the other, after having a lovely (quick-ish) bath, and neglecting the post-dinner washing up on the side (tbf, I have run out of washing up liquid...) teehee so before I miss another minute of True Blood (phawr) I am signing off ;-)

Have a good evening, and thanks for all your views! Please feel free to leave comments, plus suggestions for future posts and +1's would also be much appreciated :)

Til next time!

Happy New Year!

Only just realised it has been over a month since I last post! How appalling of me! But, in my defence, I have been a very busy mummy, what with moving stuff in, new furniture, settling in, Xmas New Year, and sadly, the loss of our dog; Misty! :'( Rest In Peace, baby, you#re not in pain anymore and we will always love you and miss you, and Xmas Day will now always be your day! 07/04/2004-25/12/2013 <3

It has been one hell of a rollercoaster, just in a month though! My little flat is looking more and more homely all the time now, The Rents bought me a couple of lamps (cream in colour and shabby chic in design, of course!), my sofas are very comfy, fridge freezer and washing machine are in fine working order, and more recently, thanks to a wonderful Mummy Friend for hers and her husbands' generosity, I now also have a wonderful double + single wardrobe, with mirrored doors, and also a lovely little bookcase! :) However, I now need a bigger living room, as Sienna is a very lucky little girl with FAR too many new toys!

For Xmas, I had a fab surprise wrapped up in a big box- a load of baking equipment! Hurray! Made a gorgeous Victoria sponge (top) just before Xmas (with the little equipment I had bought for myself), and some lovely fruit scones yesterday (middle) (along with mini triangle sammiches, and lashings of ginger beer... I mean tea!) hehe although, as what wouldn't be like me, a couple of baking disasters! Tried to add some banana to what was initially gonna be a single story Victoria sponge (it didn't rise. At all.) and also my (in)famous muffcakes! (bottom)

If you haven't already noticed, muffcakes are what are supposed to be cupcakes.... hey.... Maybe I have found a niche in the market...... Can you spot the one that came out relatively unscathed? Haha! I have since bought cupcake cases, which I thought I was using in the first place, but they're actually fairy cake cases!!! Silly me.... ¬_¬ hmmm maybe I should start a baking blog too..... ;-)

Still, New Year was a rather pleasant affair, in the end.... Spent the evening with my family round my nan's house, which was really nice, had a good giggle, got to see my niece too which was nice :)

And so as it's a new year, I guess I should also summarise last year! What a year it was! Lots of things just seemed to slot in to place all year long! No prospects of moving came up until right at the merry end, of which I'm very glad I waited... and waited..... :) got a most wonderful flat! Also, had 2 splendid holidays to Great Yarmouth with a good old school chum (I paid pittance for them!), also met lots and lots of absolutely amazing people from all quite good walks of life, and Sprog has been amazing me more and more all the time! Plus there were all the bad times, losing Misty being the worst! Plus not getting on very well with The Rents whilst I lived with them, being dragged through hell/up to Watford (same thing in this case), and I actually think that might be about it for bad stuff this year, actually, so all in all it's be a brill year :D

I hope 2014 is good too!

So lastly, I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, and a happy, harmonious, prosperous and successful 2014!

Lots of Love,

Me xXx
