Scratch Scratch Scratch!!! Not For Those of A Weak Disposition......

Fleas!!!! Arrggghhhh!!!!!!

Misty has had fleas for the last couple of weeks or so, and yesterday, we finally got rid of them! After many times of trying to show and prove that she has them!
"She can't settle, look at her scratching constantly, twitching"
"No, she's been doing it a while" x_X
"These little black crusty things are bits of flea poo"
"Are they? They can't be, they're probably just a skin problem" x_X
I even put some of the flea poo on a piece of wet tissue and showed mum how it smudged as a reddish brown colour...

Other answers to my claims were:-
"But she hasn't been anywhere to catch them"
"Her back is always sensitive when you stroke her like that" [as she arches her back like a cat on heat, and her leg tries to scratch at 1 million rpm]
"Don't be silly, she's fine"

You'd think that a graduate in this field would be listened to....

I've feel totally grossed out, and completely embarrassed; only dirty people with dirty dogs get fleas, right....? =S ironically, we figured out it was when mum was cleaning the kitchen and hall floors that Misty would've caught them, as mum puts the rugs and Misty's bed on the patio-type area, where foxes and hedgehogs frequent! And poor Misty wasn't going to get treated until the weekend, when mum was home!!!

But it all changed yesterday evening when I was sat in the lounge with mum, and Misty laying in front of us, and I saw a flea walk over her back!!! I could only exclaim in disgust! And with that, mum rushed out to Pets At Home (20 minutes before they were due to close), and returned with some shampoo, flea spray for the house and a flea collar! Thank god! So then, at long last, a flea killing spree ensued, the hoover was roaring, Misty was whimpering (she doesn't like baths!), dad was grumbling, and the spray can was whooshing, and within an hour, we were flea free at long last!

It made me laugh though, as when mum was giving Misty her bath, she got scared and called me in to the bathroom as the water ran a brown bloody colour and thought poor Misty was bleeding (remember the flea poo on wet tissue?)... When I reminded her of it, and she realised just how much flea poo there was, she was very quick to apologise to Misty, I'm still waiting for my apology though, but I'm not holding my breath, I never get one lol

Ah well, Misty's much happier now! :D peace and cleanliness is restored, and I had a marvellous and ridiculously long shower last night too lol

Hope I haven't grossed you out too much.... Don't worry, I felt sick myself lol

Please keep +1'ing me, tis much appreciated! Can't believe how many views I've had in just a week or so! Comments, suggestions, etc are also welcomed!

Til next time, toodle pip! xXx

Take A Deep Breath....

Aaaand breathe!

Had a mad few days lately, we watched my niece over the weekend, which was lovely to see the girls running around and playing so nicely together! It was absolutely exhausting though, trying to keep eye on the both of them all the time, they're nuts! Kudos to parents of multiple births, not that I thought any less of them before, but experiencing something as similar to it for myself, you've really got to have your wits about you ALL THE TIME!!! Lol I have to say though, on Saturday, I was real proud of myself in the morning, as I managed to settle the both of them down to nap, with bottles, and then clean the kitchen and tidy the lounge, and all within an hour! =D yay me hehe Kudos to child-minders as well, by the way!

Saturday afternoon was also such fun, it was my Texan friend's daughter's second birthday party! Her parties are fab, cooking is always tasty, and atmosphere is always very welcoming and fun! And even the babies and toddlers (all 14 of them!) were on their best behaviour! I was even more knackered afterwards, as sprog decided that she would spend a majority of the time walking all the way from the lounge, through the kitchen, the conservatory, across the decking to the back of the garden and back again, whilst eating or drinking (and therefore, not looking where she's going, so catching every obstacle)!

The rest of my weekend was rather lazy, even by comparison, as both sprog and I kept our pyjamas on (not that sprog had the choice...); my excuse is due to the amount of disturbed nights' sleeps we've had lately (thanks toothy pegs!). Also, niece went home, that's about it really lol

Yesterday was playgroup, nothing out of the ordinary to report there really, aside from a rather, ermmm.... (trying to think how diplomatically I can put this....) well, all the other children were rather dwarfed, thank god we're in a bigger venue from next week! (phew!) Hehe

Got loads of housework done today, and all I can think is "why didn't I buy the stair gate earlier??!" lol still, I've got my feet up this evening with a lovely glass of rose, followed by a marvellous brew =]

Well done if you've made it through this evening's entry, I probably ought to cut them down a bit, only put in the interesting stuff, thoughts on this, anyone? Hehe please +1 and share and stuff as well, this website keeps on at me about it being shared and stuff hehe =]

So, til next time! Take it easy ^_^ xXx

So Excited I Might Wee!

Ahhhhh what a day it's been!

I had an unexpected phone call from Notting Hill Housing Association today, offering me a viewing on a 1 bed flat, which was good news anyways! But then she said because I'm in Band B with a child (which was news to my ears!), I'd be better off waiting just a few months for a 2 bed place to come up! Ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!! BUZZING!!!! Lol I just had a look at the feedback page to see if my positions on the list for previous "bids" had also changed, and they have!!! On a 2 bed maisonette, I had gone from about half way (out of over 200) to "Between 11-20"!!!!! :')

I forgot some stuff in my entry yesterday, what I've done with my life until now, well I worked as a Haven FunStar for 4 months in '08 in my gap year, where I met my first ex nicknamed Lumpy, re-sat some A level exams, applied to uni twice, and eventually ended up in Northampton through the Clearing process (which I misread as Nottingham....), met some awesome people there, a lot of whom I'm still in touch with. Messed about a bit and enjoyed my independence away from The Rents, started working for Boots again (worked there for short periods in '06 and '08) where I learnt lots about doing make up, helping people choose the right fragrances, processing films and baby advice for about 3 months before I met Sprog's daddy, and since then, I've met some awesome people, and life is still a rollercoaster =D *and breathe....*

Gosh, that's a long sentence.... =S

Please feel free to leave me +1's, comments, suggestions, well wishes, whatever, but no hating please (why read if you hate....?) O_o

Ta-ra! ^_^

The Beginning In The Middle

Ok, a blog, ermagerd, how to start... O_O

Well, I'm Sophie, 24, and a single mummy with a beautiful daughter, who's a little monkey, and a BSc(Hons) degree in Applied Animal Studies from Northampton University/Moulton College. I live at home with The Rents and am doggedly determinedly trying to find my own place to move in to. I'll only say a little about why I'm a single mummy, as this was never the way I had planned being a mummy, and for my own protection, I don't want to divulge too much information, but my daughter's father turned out to be not such a nice young man after all.... But we still see his parents, who are lovely, they'll crop up quite often in my blogs, so I'll label them..... The Others (as in my daughter's "other grandparents").

In myself, I guess you could say I'm a fairly (debatably) shy-ish person, at least at first, I can be quite resilient, and I like to make a good impression, although I've made a major tit of myself before. Love my music (predominantly rock and metal), but I'll listen to most things if they come on the radio or whatever; plus I love spending time with my friends, going for coffees and taking sprog to playgroups and stuff =]

Not sure how well I'll do at keeping this up to date; I used to struggle keeping a diary when I was younger, although that was until I'd started having a tough time at home and school when I was about 14, and I managed to keep it going for a good couple of years or so, so we'll see :) hehe. If you can't be bothered to read my regular whinges about my life (I can be quite a discontented person when someone rocks my boat, but then who isn't happy at those times...?), then good luck reading on from here..... Just sayin' ;-) hehe
